Meet
Gretchen Geiger, interior stylist
My mission is to create beautiful, livable spaces for my clients based on what beauty means to THEM. My perspective is drawn from respect for historical architecture and vintage pieces coupled with an appreciation of the playfulness and freshness of modern design.
My Style
My style is a mixture of found treasures from house salvage/vintage shops, sometimes repurposed, and includes touches of modern flair. Think old wooden beams, barn wood or clapboard, leather, textured fabrics, color filled walls, unique lighting and comfort, always comfort, and always aesthetically on point! You know that piece of furniture your grandmother gave you with the outdated look but that means so much to you?
Let's get it out of the basement, breathe some new life into it and find a place for it! How about creating that old library look in your den you've always wanted or that fresh, breezy, whimsical look in your bedroom? The world of design offers so much to explore so, let's create your space to be a reflection of you!
My Story
My life’s journey has taken me from growing up in an early 1900’s bungalow in western NY to living in a brand new stucco home in San Diego, CA. Imagine the extreme differences in architecture and topography! From San Diego, CA we moved to a rustic, wooded home in the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe, CA. Playing off of the majestic beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains isn’t hard to do. We currently live in a mid-century colonial home on the historic Erie Canal. Feeling the rich history of our town and paying homage to the canal can be felt when you enter our home. My latest and probably my favorite project is our 1907 lakeside cottage located in the Finger Lakes region of NY. We purchased the property from the original family whose grandfather lovingly built it. It’s been a lot of work and also a lot of fun bringing that beauty back to her original glory. The cottage will slide into her next century with ease and graciously host friends and family for years to come.
For the past 26 years I have enjoyed a successful and fruitful ( no pun intended :) career in the world of wine and spirit sales. As I mostly worked with restaurants, hotels and country clubs, you could say that I was on the romantic side of the business: the side where you get to walk into beautiful brick buildings adorned with historic charm or castles that have been repurposed as eateries. Tin ceilings, hand-hewn barn beams, rich mahogany bars and textured tapestries are just a few of the things I loved discovering on my daily jaunts. Design and interior styling has always been a part of me and I think that’s why with every new place I visited, it wasn’t just the wine list that peaked my interest but more the ambiance of the place. Ever since I can remember, I was moving my furniture around in my childhood bedroom or visiting a childhood friend and marveling at the grasscloth wallpaper they just had installed. I’m not sure if it’s typical for an eight year old to notice the custom headboard and new bedding in my friend’s bedroom, but I was always drawn to those details. It’s been a life long dream to design and style for a living. The creative and problem-solving side of who I am needed a different platform from which to grow. I very much look forward to helping you realize your own dream in creating your sanctuary, your space, your home. Each place has it’s own character and history. If you’re true to that, the rest is easy! That’s something we can collectively work towards through the design and styling of your spaces.
